This is a virtual drawing camp I taught back in 2020 through Cornerstone Lutheran Church. In this 4 part series you will learn shape-based drawing, as well as how to create your own comic. In the process, we’ll tie this work to how God loves creativity and partnering with us in the act of creation.

A Story Worth Telling

Fine Arts Academy 2020

Welcome! Have a seat by the virtual fire as we learn the art of visual storytelling.

Scroll down to get started.

Genesis 1

In the beginning…

Our God is a storyteller.

Instead of telling us about creation in a textbook, God chose to share the beginning of all things in a story!

“In the beginning … the earth was FORMLESS and EMPTY … and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface…” -Genesis 1:1-2

When we approach a blank piece of paper, we have a chance to participate with the Holy Spirit in an act of creation. Putting pencil to paper, we get to take something formless and empty, and give it purpose and meaning by telling a story with our art.

Over the next 4 days, you and I are going to partner with the Holy Spirit to use images and words to transform a blank sheet of paper into a story worth reading.

Are you ready to begin?
